About Us
We are a family from Oneroa set on keeping Waiheke Island beautiful and sustainable.
Our Story
Clean Island was formerly The Rubbish Company, a business that for 18 years looked after business rubbish and recycling on Waiheke. Bins4U became part of The Rubbish Company around 2015, which led to running the skip bin business too.
In 2018 we (Jeremy and Lavara) took over The Rubbish Company after seeing a real opportunity to contribute to building a sustainable community. See the 10 Ton Project for our first crack at this. Jeremy had grown up on and off the island so the opportunity to bring his wife and three young girls to live here was too good to pass up. It's quite a change, having come from a Communications career. Regardless, building a trusted and reliable business that uses innovation to improve Waiheke's sustainability footprint is our key aim.
